The Clingy Girls

This week I took Clingy to Chinatown and then North Beach. In North Beach, we stopped at Biordi and admired all the beautiful dishes. Here are some of our favorite patterns. They also had some small dishes with funny phrases in Italian like: “wine is the poetry of the earth”, “friends and wine should be old” and “my wife is always right”.

Next we headed to this small ristorante and had a delicious italian meal! yum yummmmm

Check back in for more next week!

Meet Pattie, our Clingy Girl in New Jersey!

Meet Pattie:
I live in Bloomfield, NJ on Orchard Street, the names of which makes it sound as if it is a Garden of Eden-type town, but not really. I am a mother of one fashionista-in-the-making, who has already placed a claim on my bags and boots “when the time comes.” Owning more 49 Square Miles bags than I can count, my collection includes six Clingies and a Needy. New Jersey has great shopping, awesome restaurants and, of course, it’s just a short car ride to the well-known Jersey Shore and Atlantic City! With the warm weather, the Clingies may need a little road trip soon so follow along to join in on all the fun!

Meet Lindsey, our Clingy Girl in Minneapolis!

Meet Lindsey:

I’m from the lovely Twin Cities area and I work both full and part time as a software tester.  When I’m not glued to my computer screen, I’m a huge music fiend.  No doubt my Clingy will be accompanying me to the four shows I’ve already managed to score tickets to this summer.  (And I’m always on the hunt for more!)  I consider myself a locavore and am eagerly awaiting the first delivery from my CSA in June.  In the meantime, my favorite farmer’s market has just begun it’s season, so you’ll probably catch me bumming around Mill City on Saturday mornings.  I love spending time with friends and family enjoying the local arts scene and exploring our gorgeous parks and lakes, and when the scenery starts to get a little too familiar, I’m always up for hitting the road.  There’s something about that “Minnesota Nice,” though, that always keeps me coming back home!

Meet Jordan, our Clingy Girl from Richmond, Virginia!

Jordan is our newest Clingy Girl from Richmond, Virginia. She just recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University where she obtained her degree in International Business. She has a passion for fashion, food, family, fun and enjoys being able to continuously explore the “river city” and its diverse characteristics. You find something new everyday and whether it be a new restaurant, a trendy new thrift store, or a new piece of art on the side of a run down building- Richmond is always certain to bring delightful surprises.

A Day In Oak Park…

As you may know, Chicago is hosting the NATO summit this weekend. Officials urged residence to avoid the city. Since Clingy and I were not up for crowds we decided to make other plans. One of the great things about Chicago is the abundance of interesting neighborhoods. So Clingy and I decided to explore Oak Park, IL.

Coincidence? Maybe? BUT…not many towns have 2 famous people who once called it home: Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway!! FLW maintained his home/studio here from 1889-1909, and Oak Park still holds a huge collection of his work. Ernest Hemingway was born in 1899 only a few blocks away. Oak Park is a true gem. It’s a diverse community filled with rich history. Modern homes blend seamlessly with spectacular hundred-year old homes. Clingy loved the downtown area. It is a great place for architecture buffs, foodies, shoppers, history lovers, or anyone who just wants to slow down.

After a long day, Clingy and I took a moment to stop and enjoy a lush tree lined street. How about this house?!?!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Cynthia

Meet Cynthia, our newest Clingy Girl from Chicago!

Meet Cynthia:

Cynthia is not your average stay at home Mom! Residing just 9 miles west of downtown Chicago, she is the perfect mix of city girl and suburban Mom. Living in the Windy City her entire life she knows all the best places to eat, drink, play and shop! Also, being a breast cancer survivor she has learned to cherish each day and is now living a happy and healthy life enjoying delicious food and exercising daily. Cynthia has been told by many that she is “always smiling.” Her favorite quote is “Always find a reason to smile.” Being surrounded by family, friends, food, fashion, and flowers brings a smile to her face. We know Clingy and Cynthia will light up Chicago, bringing even more fun and excitement to our Clingy Girl family!

As you can tell, I’m a Clingy Girl that’s obsessed with sandwiches- or just food in general. This past Friday, I took Clingy to High Street Deli, the recent winner of SLO’s best sandwich award. That day’s special, The Hot Italian, was filled with Genoa Salami, Capicola Ham, Salami, melted provolone, pepperoncinis, and oragano on a toasted french roll. It was delicious.

If you’re ever in SLO and want somewhere with great food, and a laid-back atmostphere, give High Street a try! The people are great, and it’s a great place to enjoy lunch on a sunny SLO day.

Until next time, happy adventures!

After leaving a work party on Beacon Hill in Boston, I spotted some awesome kid graffiti on a brick wall. I just had to stop and get a clingy pic! Looks like the dinosaur loves the wallet as much as I do.
