Our very own Mary Daily (honorary Clingy Girl)...
My Loganberry Clingy and I went to visit my best friend from High School who moved to Prescott from Vermont. Big move!! She loves it. It is a great town with lots of shops and a thriving heartbeat of classy big city culture alongside noisy cowboy and biker bars.
The first thing we did was go to the Grand Canyon. It was a quick 2-hour drive north through gorgeous Northern Arizona forests. ...

Clingy Loves Trying New Restaurants!
I’m so lucky to live in a town where tons of new restaurants are constantly opening. It’s one of the best things about living in Chicago. I subscribe to a few local food blogs that help keep me in the loop. Often I’m driving and end up spotting a cool looking place and make a mental noet and then add it to my never ending list of restaurants to visit. This very thing happened...

Clingy had a bangin' good time in Logan Square!
Bang Bang Pie Shop opened last May. It has been on my “must go” list for months. Well, Clingy and I finally made it there this week. It’s located in the Logan Square neighborhood and is a husband and wife team who went from food truck to pie shop. It smells amazing and has a special charm that makes you feel like you are in your Grandmother’s kitchen. They sell homemade...

Clingy explores Navy Pier
The month of August is often a very busy time for our family. We try to squeeze in so many activities before the kids go back to school. Yesterday we took Clingy to Navy Pier. Clingy enjoyed the rides, restaurants, exhibits, shopping, boat, theater and more. Navy Pier has it all—and is surrounded by beautiful Lake Michigan!!!
Every August the Tall Ship “WINDY” sails back...

An easy garden
Living near the Golden Gate Bridge is a privilege. I am very lucky to be near the water and the mountains. And I am lucky that when its 90-100° inland, its usually in the 60’s in my neighborhood. I like the cool weather…but tomatoes like the hot weather…
This year my husband and I planted tomatoes, herbs and lettuces. Its been our first semi-aggressive foray into growing...
Meet Hallie, our new DC Clingy Girl
Born and raised in Sonoma County (just north of San Francisco), Hallie has recently relocated to Washington, DC for a journalism fellowship (read: dream job). There’s no telling where you’ll find her on a day off - she’s equally at home meeting friends for brunch, curling up with a good book (or movie), or playing tourist in our nation’s beautiful capital. She’s...

Clingy checks out Wicker Park
This weekend my kids were in Wisconsin visiting my sister. It’s very rare that my husband and I are sans kids for more than 24 hours so we decided to take advantage of our freedom and hit the city. We spent a few hours in Wicker Park a neighborhood of Chicago. I lived in Wicker Park years ago so it’s always fun to visit my favorites and even try a few new hot spots. WP is loaded with awesome...

Clingy saw a show at LOOKINGGLASS!
There is nothing better than live theater! Enjoying a play every so often is a must if you live in Chicago. Each time I see a show I walk out feeling energized. A play can make you happy, sad, laugh, cry, wonder, worry-etc. There is always so much depth to a show and it makes you think long after you have left the theater. Sunday we took Clingy to the Lookingglass Theater. It’s located in...

Clingy visits Lincoln Park
Last week I took Clingy to one of my favorite areas in the city: Lincoln Park. It’s a beautiful neighborhood to explore and is loaded with culture, nature, dining and shopping. Clingy and I visited the Lincoln Park Zoo and took a relaxing stroll though the Lincoln Park Conservatory. It’s a tropical paradise inside a glass house. Clingy’s favorite was the Palm House, which...
A great restaurant in Sausalito (Fish.)
Fish. Restaurant in Sausalito is a bit off the tourist path, but very worth a trip. This Clingy Girl lives close by and goes almost every weekend for the delicious food and views of the San Francisco Bay.
The food is always delicious and craveable, but even more important, the restaurant is run with care and consciousness to the earth. They only serve sustainable fish, many from the fishing...

Clingy Goes Zip Lining!
Have you ever wished you could fly? Last Friday, Clingy and I experienced pure excitement as we zip lined through the trees of Lake Geneva, WI. It was fun to experience nature from a totally different perspective. We began our day by making sure our harness fit properly. Our guide asked us to choose a name (requirements: fun an original) and print the name on our helmet. I picked CLINGY!! So for...

Clingy Visits The Art Institute
Every now and then I feel like I need to get a good dose of culture. Summer is in full swing and there are so many fun things to do in Chicago. I like to keep things simple, cheap and entertaining. I knew just where to start…
Our day began at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. It is an outdoor concert venue and is home to the Grant Park Music Festival and many other free...

Clingy Experiences the Lifetime Minneapolis...
What I didn’t know about triathlons: basically everything. Well, no, that’s not entirely true. I knew I needed caffeine to be functional that early in the morning.
Clingy was on board.
I also assumed that anyone who would voluntarily participate in such an event — PAY ACTUAL MONEY (versus be paid) — had to be a little bit crazy. So far, I have observed no evidence to...

Clingy visits Lake Geneva, WI
This weekend we decided to road trip to Lake Geneva, WI. Clingy is a spontaneous gal and is always game for a last minute adventure. This past week was sweltering hot here in Chicago. Temperatures were in the upper 90s and the humidity made it feel as hot as 100 degrees!!
Lake Geneva is a quaint, small town filled with shops and restaurants. It is 90 minutes from Chicago but, feels like a world...

What's in my Clingy?
I don’t know about you, but I have spent years searching for the perfect wallet. It all changed the day I strolled into Wendy Foster in Santa Barbara. I noticed a 49 SQMI CLINGY wallet lying there so unassuming. Little did I know, we would soon be a perfect match! Most wallets are either small, too colorful, not the right material, not enough credit card slots or no compartments. I’m...

Clingy Hits the Pier!
Last Wednesday, Clingy and I decided to head back to the Pier and along the Embarcadero here in San Francisco. If you’ve been following along with the Clingy Adventure locations in SF (which I’m sure you have!) you know that we went down to Pier 39 about a month ago. This time we decided to head back to the Pier to visit more undiscovered places. It was a beautiful day in San...

Day trip to Geyserville and Lake Sonoma
We took a trip today up to Lake Sonoma for some jet skiing (or technically, wave runner-ing!). But we needed lunch on our way up and stopped at the wonderful “adult Disneyland” the Francis Ford Coppola Winery. FFC built this location a few years back and he spared no expense. Everything is top notch. Its not cheap, but a great destination. He built a fabulous pool with...
My Favorite Summer Spot!
Daydreaming is fun! I seem to do it everywhere: when I’m baking, watching TV, driving, folding laundry or falling asleep. I can easily drift into my own world where dreams, adventure, and excitement awaits. My recent daydream was about spending my summer at a beach house on the coast. This is how I envisioned it to look:
I bet you would join me for a morning cup of coffee at this little...
DIY Jewelry Display
Okay, so this isn’t exactly a recent DIY (I did it a few months ago), but I really am quite proud of it and I use it every day, so I thought I would share.
I own a lot of jewelry, but I have beef with jewelry boxes. Why? Because what’s the point of owning all these lovely, sparkly things and then storing them all in a box? So here’s my alternative:
I painted some Goodwill...
Clingy Gets Dosed!!
Today Clingy and I went to a birthday party! It was at the dose market in Chicago. It is a monthly food, fashion and design market. dose is held at the River East Arts Center located just steps from Navy Pier. Today dose was celebrating it’s first birthday so Clingy and I were in for a special day! The birthday dose included 23 food vendors and 27 fashion vendors.
We went in the morning...

DIY Hair Ties w/ Clingy
Last October I spent four unforgettable days in Santa Barbara, CA. This is where my love affair began…I discovered 49 SQMI and elastic hair ties!! I treated myself to a Clingy Wallet and a few stylish ponytail holders. I can’t imagine life without either:). I have seen the hair ties in a ton of magazines and on celebrities. I was immediately smitten…good-bye to the days of ugly...
Moving!
Oh my it has been a busy week in Milwaukee! We have been very lucky because the weather has been so nice and hot. Recently, my family decided that they wanted to move houses, thankfully only right across the street! We were given only 5 days to move all of our stuff from one house to the other - how stressful! My mom and little sister helped box up all of our rooms while my brothers, my dad, and...
Clingy visits Pine Lake
Clingy and I spent the past week vacationing at a lovely lake house in Wisconsin. We had a blast telling jokes, eating delicious food, playing with dogs, boating, fishing and lots of swimming. Spending time with family and friends is very special to me. I feel it is important to create happy memories for my children. Life goes way too quickly! Pine Lake is the perfect place to do just that! It is...

Clingy
Clingy and I (and a bunch of friends) spent the better part of our Saturday this past weekend at Rock the Garden. Rock the Garden is MY. FAVORITE. THING. EVER. Seriously. I love it so much that I find it difficult to write coherently about it. But! That’s what pictures are for!
Pre-show, Clingy and I decided to explore the Sculpture Gardens and we took THE quintessential Twin Cities...
Meet Marianne, our Marin Clingy Girl
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Marianne loves food, dogs, and purses. Loving each 49 bag for its style, design and, beauty, she never carries one to death. Marianne is the go to girl for the best of Marin and for a friend to share your love for 49 with. Follow Marianne as she explores her love for nature and shares her adventures with all of us.
Clingy, Lisa and I ventured out to the famous Castro District yesterday. It’s a great place in San Francisco to people watch, shop and get food. It’s also famous for being a very prominent place for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Made famous in the 1960’s and 1970’s by its activism and events supporting LGBT rights, with one of its most...
Lemonade Stand
Lemonade is summer’s quintessential drink! It is the most refreshing drink on a hot day. As summer approaches, kids get excited about opening up lemonade stands. It’s so fun for children to be in charge and make a little extra cash. Who can forget the fun of having a lemonade stand as a kid? My kids have been begging me to have their first lemonade stand of the summer. So I broke down...

Clingy enjoys the summer sun
Hey y’all!
This past weekend was so beautiful Clingy and I spent the day outside. We enjoyed an afternoon hanging out on my deck soaking in the sun and relaxing. I played some music from Pandora and painted my nails.
From my deck I can see down the street a ways to Golden Gate Park. I sat there watching the people coming and going to the Haight Street Fair from the park. The view was...

Clingy does Izzy's
A little over a year ago, my good friend and former college housemate met me at Izzy’s Ice Cream (http://izzysicecream.com/index.html), an ice cream shop run entirely on solar power whose delightful creations even Bobby Flay, despite his best efforts, couldn’t top. We frequently do ice cream dates, but that time was special. Mid bite of, no lies, the most delicious frozen treat in...

Arts and Craft
This past weekend Clingy and I attended the 7th Annual Chicago Arts and Craft Show. WAIT…I know what you are thinking…needlepoint, hair bows and clothes to dress the cement duck at your front door. No, No, No! This show was filled with furniture, art, pottery, metalware, rugs, jewelry, textiles, frames, lighting and art: all inspired by the American and English Arts and Crafts...
The Perfect Attire for a Country Concert
Sunday night in Atlanta was a busy night for many people, with the last night of the weekend and most importantly the Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney concert! Here in Atlanta summer country concerts are a popular trend and wearing the right outfit is key. Now choosing the right outfit depends on several things, the location of the concert (outdoor or indoor) and who is playing (country, pop, rap,...

Fawn on my lawn!
What a morning!! As Clingy and I were headed out the door to drop the kids at school I spotted a tiny fawn laying on my front yard. The white-spotted fawn looked like it was newly born. As we watched in amazement this beautiful new life was resting. I knew the Mother was close by as she kept peeking her head out the woods across the street. After a few minutes the fawn was startled by a morning...
Millennium Park
There are certain places you visit once and never need to visit again-been there done that!! Then there are those places you could visit over and over again and never get bored. Millennium Park is one of those places that continues to amaze me. It is located in the heart of downtown Chicago and is a wonderful spot for both tourist and people who work/live in the city. It is the perfect place to...

Birth of a Clingy Girl
What is it about receiving packages? I’d compare it to Christmas morning, but unless your parents were particularly bad Santas*, you didn’t already know what was in the box. I knew. I’d placed the order. I’d been stalking the UPS website for days, tracking its movements and anticipating its arrival. I’d been cursing myself for not realizing a three-day weekend was upon us, resulting in...

The Avenue - Allston, MA
A good friend of mine has been begging me for a few weeks to go to this dive bar called The Avenue in Allston, Massachusetts. Allston is notorious for its residents (rowdy, obnoxious college kids) so I was hesitant to check this place out. I’ve been to Allston for concerts and a few dinners out with friends, but The Avenue was quite a pleasant surprise. We went for a late lunch so it...

Richmond's Beach
While most of my friends and family spent their three day weekend traveling, I stayed home and used the time off to relax. On Monday, I took Clingy to one of the most amazing spots in Richmond, Virginia- Belle Isle.
Belle Isle is a small island located in Richmond on the James River, accessible via a very large suspension bridge
.
It consists of many mountain bike and running trails, along...
Riding A Bike...
It was a very big week around our house. My youngest daughter learned to ride a two wheeler and Clingy was right there for all the excitement. There was pure JOY on her face and mine. Do you remember how excited you were when you learned to ride a bike? The feeling of complete freedom. Learning to ride a bike is a huge milestone and we were thrilled to have Clingy there with our family:).
